Before You Begin
Please read this before starting. It takes two minutes and makes your results meaningfully more accurate.
Purpose of This Assessment
This assessment evaluates how your organization typically develops proposals and identifies practical opportunities to improve proposal performance. Recommendations may include:
Standardizing successful practices across teams
Strengthening processes where gaps or risks exist
Improving collaboration, visibility, and governance
Simplifying or eliminating activities that provide little value
Reducing proposal effort while maintaining or improving quality and win rates
The objective is not to add process for its own sake, but to help your organization develop proposals more efficiently, consistently, and successfully.
What to Expect
This takes about 60–90 minutes. There are 90 questions, most of them multiple choice about your current practices.
Have your proposal financials on hand before you start. A few questions ask for figures from the past 12 months — total fees pursued, fees won, proposal preparation cost, blended hourly rate, and number of proposals per year. Gathering these first will save the most time. (If exact figures aren't available, best estimates are fine.)
Answer for one team or group you know well. If you're completing this on behalf of a specific team, answer only for that team's typical practices — not the whole organization.
You can stop and resume. Your progress is saved to your access code, so you can return and continue where you left off.
How to Answer
To ensure the results accurately reflect your organization:
Answer based on how proposals are typically developed, not how they are intended to be developed.
Consider your typical proposal over the past 12 months, rather than exceptional or unusually complex pursuits.
If a documented process exists but is not consistently followed, answer according to actual day-to-day practice.
If you're uncertain between two options, choose the one that reflects what usually happens, not what occasionally happens.
If you genuinely don't know, use “I don't know” rather than guessing — it's a valid answer that helps identify visibility gaps instead of distorting the results.
There are no right or wrong answers. Lower scores simply identify opportunities for improvement and generate more accurate, actionable recommendations.
